As a holder of several degrees in ...Bonjour Madam,

As a holder of several degrees in history and politics I feel duty bound to correct your mistaken belief that President Obama is leader of the free world.

He is in fact President of the United States of America. I'm surprised that, with your political interest you do not know this.
But I shouldn't be. It's not your fault. The government controls the media so what you read or watch or hear is controlled by them.
But I'm curious...why do you call him Obama and not President Obama.
I think you forget, documented evidence has shown that your last president has brought your country to financial ruin and it is unfair to saddle a newly elected president with the mistakes of the former.
The beloved Senator Ted Kennedy (Mhrip), a friend to the Irish- his ancestry, spent his entire career trying to establish a fair and just health care system in your country. Sadly if all the politica worked together that could have been achieved by now.
In the British Isles (of which Ireland is not a part)health care for the poor is free. No one is allowed to die because they are poor. Your own Michael Moore proved that.
If Ireland does accept two prisoners of war who could have or has capacity to or has been proven to commit terrorist attacks on any citizens of the United States...they will be watched, preferably imprisoned, I have no facts yet as to what will happen to them. No one wants them but we have friends in the U.S.

I understand what it is to lose someone you love to war or terror. But bankrupting your country by spending trillions on guns and bombs to retaliate is futile and history has proven that. That money could have established safer borders, fed the displaced in the south, and begun a lifetime effort to establish a viable health care system. President Obama is not to blame for that.
Now I may be only in my twenties but I have visited your country many times and have talked to the ordinary Joe and Jane at lenght on polital studies and in fact most know very little about what goes on in their own country, never mind the world. From the age of 8 we are taught world history.
On a lighter note "True Blood" and "Twilight" have a huge following in Europe and reality shows from America. And European teenagers also love The big bang theory and American Dad, South park, the Office etc..All the irreverent ones.
You have the best shows and the nicest people in the world. With you blog you can bring them knowledge without prejudice. Let us not carry on the hatred of our fathers.

Au revoir et bon chance! :)
Emmett.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8241445666161004335.post-59668093971284921522009-07-25T11:45:59.195-05:002009-07-25T11:45:59.195-05:00No wonder they social sciences (history, civics or...No wonder they social sciences (history, civics or government, economics, geography...) are no longer a priority in schools, or if they are taught they are distorted. For if they were truly taught, in the right fashion, a lot of the b.s. that mainly those on the left try to shove down our throats would be recognized as b.s.G.R.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8241445666161004335.post-76698170221715513882009-07-24T14:18:40.363-05:002009-07-24T14:18:40.363-05:00Actually MacArthur was at the Japanese surrender a...Actually MacArthur was at the Japanese surrender aboard the Missouri (he's not in that picture at the Weekly Standard, but MacArthur was there along with a number of American - and allied - generals and admirals including Nimitz, Sutherland, and Halsey). Hirohito was not among the Japanese delegation. MacArthur was one of the signatories and made two rather moving speeches at the spot. The fact that Obama feels worried about the word victory says quite a bit, though.

Obama's history is folklore, stories constructed for the purpose of an audience, in the same manner as editorialized fiction.yukio ngabyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13132998741555231924noreply@blogger.com
