One day, when I had completely exasperated my poor mother she looked at me and said, "If I had to do it over again I would just have dogs!" It kind of hurt my feelings but years later when my daughter was a teenager I had those same thoughts (unspoken) more than once.
the puppy will grow out of it. we rescued casey over christmas break. the vet thought he was about 6 months old. he was well behaved so after having him for about 2 weeks, i thought nothing about leaving him home when i went back to school after break. i never saw so much destruction when i got home. casey tore up everything... EVERYTHING!!! he somehow pulled an antique sponge painted crock bowl off the dining room table and broke it. it was full of wooden apples and only one or two were kind'a ok. he tore up vcr tapes and even had the tape strung around the room. the phone book looked like it ran through a paper shredder.
after rescuing casey, we couldn't justify putting him back in a bad situation so we went to menards and bought a big dog kennel and put it in the basement. whenever we left, we put him in the kennel w/ a chew toy, water and a rug. now 8 or 9 years later, he still goes in the kennel when we leave. we feel comfortable about leaving him in the house alone now and we do leave him alone if we are gone for short periods of time but for long periods, we still kennel him.

ReplyDeleteGood try, Pat, but NO ONE wants a teenager!
ReplyDeleteAUGH! I've got one better. How about a two year old nephew? He's our little Destructocon.
