  1. Pat - I love your blog! I needed a break from packing, so I decided it was beyond time to check it out. I'll definitely save it to my favorites and keep checking back.

Anyway, I love this video! Gorgeous!

  3. Pat,
I still shed a tear or two whenever I hear this song, because I think of the sacrifices that were made to make this country what it is. I'm proud to say I served this country by wearing the uniforms of the Air Force and the Army for over 26 years (active and reserve). When it was time to shed the uniform (retire), I told myself I was ready, but deep down inside there was sorrow. I was walking away from something I was a part of even before I graduated from high school and was a part of my whole adult life up to that point. Something that molded me and shaped me into the person I am today. Yes, there was sadness behind the facade of gladness.
I remember so clearly the day of
9-11. Thoughts raced through my mind 1000 miles per hour that day. I remember a friend, who would later become a very special person in my life, watching me as I cried for my country that was under attack.
I knew on that day, as an Army Reservist, I was going to be called up, and I was a little over a year later.
I remember the going away party that was given in my honor, and my friend came to give me support as I was getting ready to leave for the Army.
That friend kept in touch with me (even though I was only a little over 130 miles away at Ft Polk)and she encouraged me during the two years I was away.
That friend became a very special person in my life.
Thanks Pat for supporting me, while I was serving this country.

    I Love You
    The Old Soldier
    Steve
