First Thoughts on the Speech

Lamest.Speech.Evah.

Seriously, what was that?  For a guy with such outstanding rhetorical skills, or so they say, that was just lame.  Oh, I know.  I'm biased; I can't stand him.  But it was a lame speech.  Sarah Palin on O'Reilly after the speech showed more fire and grit that Obama's prissy self.

The excessive use of military metaphors and phraseology, the dictatorial "BP will pay" and "I will demand" stuff was ineffective.  That whole "man on the moon" thing was ridiculous.  He said nothing at all about stopping the spill or how he was going to get that done. It's like he's just resigned to the fact that it's going to spew until that relief well is done in August. He talked about how this was the time to adopt green energy.

Whatever.

On CNN after the speech there was a focus group of Louisiana residents listening to the speech.  They were not pleased with what they heard.  They see their way of live ending.  Over.  One lady said she has worked on the back of a fishing boat for 30 years and she doesn't think there will ever be fishing out there again.  She echoed the sentiments of most of the people in that room.

I don't think Obama said one thing to make that better.

Okay, that's my first thoughts.  If I feel like it, I'll post something more insightful later, but probably not because everybody else will be.

I can't figure out why pundits are saying Obama will get a point or two bump out of this speech - I thought it was awful.

Text of the speech can be found here, if you were lucky enough to miss it.

Oh, come on Pat!

Obama's going to stop the spill by harnessing technology, bringing in Nobel Prize winner Dr. Chu, and putting a man on the moon then charge it all to BP! Didn't you get it?

You need to pay closer attention...

The rigs are headed for Brazil so Barry's lord and master George Soros can make a ton of money. Mission accomplished.

Just when you think he can't suck any harder he goes and gives another **yawn** inspiring speech.

The young turks still operate under the premise that it is better to apologize than ask permission. It's time to stop asking the Feds for the time of day. Bobby Jindal is a great American. I know he's determined to finish his work in Louisiana before considering what else to do but I do hope we'll get the chance to vote for him one of these days.

What is so sad is that there are people out there that still support this incompetent boob and would vote for him again. They have some sort of masochistic complex or something.

What slays me is how the left told us how bad we were suffering under Bush, even when things weren't that bad (they weren't good either). But with Obama, the Titanic is sinking, and we are being told how wonderful things are. It sort of reminds me of the scene in Animal House where Kevin Bacon (as the ROTC cadet), while pandamonium is breaking out all around him, is sceaming "ALL IS WELL!"
