Could someone please tell Nancy Pelosi that the presidential election is not until November 4, and that her current president is George W. Bush? And while you are at it, thank her for giving us a little preview of what an Obama presidency will look like. I'm wondering if the ACORN folks will be at this meeting since Obama has promised community organizers a role in shaping his presidential agenda. If she is involving the Obama campaign in discussions, is she also involving the McCain campaign?
WASHINGTON (AP) - After consulting with Barack Obama, Democratic leaders are likely to call Congress back to work after the election in hopes of passing legislation that would include extended jobless benefits, money for food stamps and possibly a tax rebate, officials said Saturday.
The bill's total cost could reach $150 billion, these officials said.
The officials stressed that no final decisions have been made. They spoke on condition of anonymity, saying they did not want to pre-empt a formal announcement. House Democrats have announced plans for an economic forum on Monday "to help Congress develop an economic recovery plan that focuses on creating jobs and strengthening our economy."
Democrats said Obama's campaign has been involved in discussions on a possible stimulus package.

The Republicans took on the mantle of Tax and Spend, and that is what got them into trouble in 2006. They turned their backs on conservative values and acted like a bunch of Tax and Spend liberals.
So, in 2006 the Democrats promised they would do better than the Republicans, if we would only put them in control of Congress. The voters did, and guess what? They did to better than the Repubicans. The managed to get the cost of gas per gallon about 76 cents higer, the cost of living is now shooting through the roof, and the value of my dollar, world wide, has decreased.
Now the Tax and Spend Democrats wants to give more of my money to increase expenditures and give away programs to people who don't want to work? I'm not saying all people on these programs aren't needy, because I know through first hand experience there are, and I truly am for helping them. But for those who wish to sit on their butts, do nothing but make babies and demand we give them more? Hell No!
But to fund these expenditure increases cost the tax payer more money, A where does this money come from? I know the mint can print as much money as it wants, and that could finance the increase in jobless benefits, food stamp programs, and welfare programs expenditures. Right?
But I think I remember hearing somewhere that printing more money only decreases the value of the dollars already in circulation. Basic economics.
So what will be the answer to funding increases in government programs? I know, Taxes, Taxes, Taxes. But don't worry folk, I know deep down the Democrats will take pity on me and only tax the rich, and they will tax individuals and businesses that make over $250,000 a year.
OK, fine with me. I don't make any where near $250,000, but just about every business owner I deal with does. Guess what, businesses don't pay taxes, well they do, but not really. It has to deal with a little thing called the profit margin. (Another thing that was discussed in one of those business classes I took once).
For a business to stay viable: resupply, pay all over head costs (rent or mortgage payments, utilities, etc), make improvements to property and equipment, make payroll, PAY TAXES, and still put some money in the owners or share holders pockets, a business has to make a certain amount of dollars. If not, the company goes in debt, and may eventually go into bankruptcy.
When costs (which includes paying taxes) go up, the profit margin goes down, and when the profit margin goes down, prices go up, when the prices go up, contents in customer's wallet goes down.
That is Economics in a nutshell.
So Thank you Ms. Pelosi and Tax and Spend Democrats
She's a democratic leader working the democratic candidate b/c they have more similar goals and though not president yet (;) ) he is still a democractic senator - I think this is reaching.
Ah well. So much for that "reaching across the aisle" philosophy.
oooh -reach across the aisle like McCain says he did with LEIBERMAN!!! that was his "across the aisle Democrat" - you know - the one who is now a Republican. LOL!
Lieberman is not a Republican! He's not popular with the Dems right now but he still is one.
LEiberman attended not his convention but the Republican one - he has stated he clearly has crossed sides
