As someone said to me last night, "Don't those Republicans get it? Didn't they learn anything in November?! We don't WANT them to go up there and hold hands and everyone get along. We WANT things to be different!" I understand this point. Bickering is not necessarily productive, but bi-partisanship is over rated.
No, I didn't watch. I went to eat Mexican food with my husband, then came home and got back into the Pacific War. We're headed to Iwo Jima now.
But, if you watched, I'd like to know what you thought.

"bi-partisanship," as we've learned from this admin, means doing what they want. It's not over-rated, it's Alinsky on steroids.

I didn't feel like watching 'the show'. It's all a show and it's all crap. The GOP knows what it needs to do. We're just waiting for them to do it already.

I didn't watch. I did read the speech, and two things in particular struck me. One, an annoyance that came round again and I've just blogged about (I think I'm the only person in the world who is still appalled about it).
The other gave me pause when I read it:
" We can’t win the future with a government of the past." "...the last major reorganization of the government happened in the age of black-and-white TV."
"But we need to think bigger. In the coming months, my administration will develop a proposal to merge, consolidate, and reorganize the federal government in a way that best serves the goal of a more
competitive America. I will submit that proposal to Congress for a vote –- and we will push to get it passed."
That does not sound promising to me.
Pat, I didn't watch it. I wanted to, but I had more pressing matters at hand.
I was working on my "belly-button lint sculptures" collection, which has been sorely neglected of late.
