It's a Sign of Things to Come...

In a sign of things to come, former Gitmo detainee, now housed in New York, has requested that his case be dismissed because he asserts that the constitutional rights we bestowed on him have been violated:

Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, the first detainee to be transferred from Guantanamo to New York for trial, says all charges against him should be dismissed because his constitutional rights were violated.

Ghailani, a Tanzanian accused of helping plot the 1998 attacks on US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, argues that he has not been given his constitutional rights to a fair and speedy trial.

He also claims to have suffered "abhorrent" physical and psychological abuse at the hands of interrogators, his lawyers said in a court filing.

You knew it was coming.

Saw this coming a mile away. What's going to matter is how it gets handled. Bastards.

"rights we bestowed on him"

interesting view. i've always thought rights came naturally, not from the benevolence of government or the masses.

also, anyone can ASK for the dismissal of their case. but they still have to convince a judge. you're panicking a little early.
