I was driving from Shreveport to Tarpon Springs, Florida that day and I remember buying newspapers all along the way to read about what happened.
I always liked this picture of Carolyn; she was supposedly a style-icon (I don't know much about that sort of thing) but this photo always had a sort of hippie-chick appeal to me.
