Is This Offensive To You?

The perpetually unhinged Andrew Sullivan is entering a few new "code words" into the lexicon of racism today.  Apparently it is now RAAAAACIST to call anyone a "juvenile delinquent" or to use the word "graffiti" or "gang."  The gang at the coffee pot this morning will be interested in learning they are now part of a racist conspiracy.  

Sullivan's defense will likely be that it's the "context," so please, what's "racist" about saying "Obama and his gang"?   Are we so politically correct now that we must say "Obama and his appointed Cabinet members, czars and advisers" when we refer to those people in Washington who are dismantling America as we know it?  This pushes the "racism" canard a little too far methinks.

Is this picture "racist" to you?  Sullivan thinks so.

False Hope

Now I understand why Andrew Sullivan spends so many of his waking hours demonizing Sarah Palin and her family. He's afraid of her:

Above all, she is capable of generating a personality cult - much, much more so than Obama, because she can harness Christianism to her divine destiny. The power of this kind of appeal - of a charismatic, beautiful woman, an icon of the pro-life cause, persecuted by the evil elites, demonized by libruls, and commanding the biggest military on earth - should not in my view be under-estimated.

Know fear.

Of course, most people have figured this out already, but I don't usually pay that much attention to Sullivan.

But, I got my hopes up when I saw the headline on Memeorandum:


I got hopeful that he'd finally decided to quit talking about her.

Silly me.

And so one suspects that this is a profound moment in the now accelerating decline of this country. And one of the major parties is ecstatic about it.

Oh for crying out loud.

Time For Another Lacuna

Andrew Sullivan might need another lacuna to figure this one out:

I'm not sure why Palin wants a knock-down drag-out fight with the father of her grandson, but she acts so often out of spite, anger and with no solid grasp of the full consequences you never know what she might do next.

Speaking of someone with "no solid grasp" of things...

But hey, he gets the big bucks for live-blogging Sarah Palin on Oprah so who am I to criticize?

Andrew Sullivan is Back From His Lacuna

It's Monday which means back to work for me, back to work for Congress, and back to being obsessed for Andrew Sullivan.

Today he posts an "intellectually honest" review, or more accurately, partial review, of Sarah Palin's Going Rogue. The snippet of the review he posts only confirms, *GASP*!, Sullivan's premise that Palin is hiding something, something is being "covered up"! Crikey! I KNEW IT!

Sullivan laments the fact that Palin's editor, Adam Bellow at Harper Collins, didn't thoroughly "fact check" the book. In fact, Sullilvan has emailed, yes! EMAILED! Bellow for a confirmation that he did, in fact, review Palin's medical records before publishing the book:

I've emailed Bellow asking him about the fact-checking process for "Going Rogue." Getting an on-the-record confirmation that, for example, Harper Collins reviewed the medical records proving Palin's multiple medical stories (including corrected hospital records by her own account) would be a useful piece of information.

I was unaware of the fact that publishing a book made your private medical records necessary fodder for the process, but Sullivan must know, right? He gets the big bucks, not me.

Yes, I'll be on pins and needles waiting for that return email from Palin's editor. I'm sure Sully will let us know when it drops.
