We Can't Wait!, Or.... Can We?

In caving to environmentalists and political appeasement, Obama not only lost an estimated 20,000 jobs but now the Prime Minister of Canada has a different plan for his oil:

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Sunday that he was looking at exporting more oil to China after the United States delayed a decision on a controversial pipeline.

In a clearly political move, Obama has "kicked the can down the road," as they say, and hopes that he can at least get the green vote next year.

Apparently adding jobs and energy stability to America isn't part of his "We Can't Wait" campaign.

China's Buildup

This is scary as hell:

A Pentagon report suppressed by the administration describes a massive Chinese military buildup that has only one purpose: to deny us access to the Western Pacific and destroy American forces that try.
IBD has the frightening details:

"China is fielding an array of conventionally armed ballistic missiles, ground- and air-launched cruise missiles, special operations forces and cyberwarfare capabilities to hold targets at risk throughout the region," the report says. These targets would be American bases and carrier battle groups that might be sent to aid Taiwan.

The 74-page Pentagon report also notes that China is "pursuing a variety of air, sea, undersea, space and counterspace" weapons designed specifically to attack U.S. forces. Primary among them is the Dong Feng 21D carrier-killer ballistic missile that can hit moving and heavily defended American carriers with pinpoint accuracy at distances between 900 and 1,000 miles from China's coasts.

They don't have to attack us; they already own us, thanks to Obama.

IBD questions why this report was delayed for five months and just now released.  Why was it suppressed?  Read their whole piece for the details.

Meanwhile, what are we doing?  Uhmmmm......not so much.  We are singing Kumbaya for a non-nuclear world.  We're canceling weapons programs and defense shields.  We're demilitarizing.

The Heritage Foundation points out:

The [People's Liberation Army] has enjoyed sustained growth in its resources, its capabilities, and its sophistication for so long that we are no longer surprised by its burgeoning reach and expanding envelope. There are individual technologies, such as anti-ship ballistic missiles, that are being pioneered by Chinese engineers, but we have become accustomed to China’s overall efforts to become a true military power.

You become complacent; you lose.  Period.

Uighurs Riot in China

There are riots in China's northwestern Xinjiang region today with 140 reported killed and over 800 injured, reports the Wall Street Journal. "Witnesses said the conflicts pitted security forces against demonstrators, and members of the region's Turkic-speaking Uighur ethnic group against members of the country's Han Chinese majority. Many among the predominantly Muslim Uighurs have chafed at Chinese government rule."

Good thing those Uighurs aren't terrorists or violent.

"Uighur activists said hundreds of Uighurs, many of them students, had gathered Sunday to protest racial discrimination and call for government action against the perpetrators of an attack last month on Uighur migrant workers at a toy factory in southern China."

The story goes on to report that "Demonstrators clashed with the police, witnesses said, and rioters smashed shops and attacked buses. 'Most were young Uighurs. They were smashing everything on the street,' said one Han Chinese man who works as a driver. Another Han Chinese man, who owns a shop in the city's central bazaar, said he saw Uighurs 'with big knives stabbing people' on the street. "

I'm sure these guys are NOTHING like the Gitmo Uighurs who are innocent people who pose no danger whatsoever regardless of the fact that they were trained in terrorist tactics in Tora Bora.

No worries. Peace out.

Take our Mayor, Please!

With the news of Ray Nagin's quarantine, some are pleading with China to hang on to old Ray there for a bit (all in good fun, of course!~)

The Crescent City has enough problems without having to worry about a Nagin generated Swine Flu epidemic. In fact, Mayor Nagin has caused many of the city's current problems, so it is only appropriate that he stay out of the city for the remainder of his term. During his 11 month quarantine, Nagin can return to health and the City of New Orleans can recover from another serious disease, the Nagin Flu.

The symptoms of the Nagin Flu are quite severe and multi-faceted. They include a lack of cranes in the sky, an anemic hurricane recovery, a poor public education system, horrific street conditions, rampant violent crime, boneheaded comments from City Hall, outlandish promises that are never kept, too many city vehicles, not enough working crime cameras, a strip club loving technology director, an email obsessed and arrogant sanitation director, and a disillusioned and disgusted populace just to name a few.
Clearly if there is a disease as dangerous as the Swine Flu, it is the Nagin Flu.

In fact, the Nagin Flu has infected 465,000 people, the pre-Katrina population of New Orleans, which is even more people than the Swine Flu has afflicted. Sadly, the victims of the Nagin Flu have been mostly concentrated in the City of New Orleans. Other cities have benefited from the Nagin Flu as our citizens and businesses have flocked to other areas during the seven year duration of this epidemic.

Greta Perry, over at Kiss My Gumbo, is collecting Nagin jokes if you have any!
