It's stunning, I know. Barry Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize for talking. The blogosphere is going crazy! This ought to be fun to watch!
Dan Riehl is just about speechless. "I do not freakin' believe this."
Betsy's Page points out that it's all Bush's fault. "Apparently, the Nobel Committee is still so possessed with their anti-Bush hatred that it wasn't enough that they awarded the prize to Jimmy Carter despite his record of catering to dictators simply because Carter was vocal in his opposition to Bush. Now they are awarding the Prize to someone who hasn't accomplished a thing simply because they hope he will in the future."
Via Tigerhawk, the best tweet so far: YO OBAMA, I'M GONNA LET YOU FINISH, BUT I JUST WANNA SAY THAT MARTIN LUTHER KING JR WAS THE BEST NOBEL PRIZE WINNER OF ALL TIME.
Jules Crittenden wonders who nominated Barry: "The big question is, who nominated him? Vladimir Putin, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or Mullah Omar. "
Reaganite Republican is also astounded. "Apparently 'soaring rhetoric' is all they're really looking for at the Nobel committee- rather than any actual results (like Reagan's ending the 40-year Cold War with a military build-up) or even a speck of historical precedent that would suggest what Obambi's saying makes any sense."
Professor Jacobson: "What a joke. Was Chris Matthews on the committee...But then again, we elected Obama before he accomplished anything, so who are we to criticize."
Tevi Troy at NRO's The Corner: "Handing Obama the prize this early strikes me as a cheapening of the award. "
What's the other side saying? They're giddy.
From Crooked Timber: "President Obama has changed how the world feels about America. He’s lifted the planet’s mood. This guy is global Prozac."
