Make plans now to attend the 2010 Highland Jazz and Blues Festival Saturday, November 13 at Highland Park in Shreveport. I can't WAIT!
The fun kicks off at noon on the Pavilion stage with Robin and the Bluebirds. I'm looking forward to seeing Buddy Flett play at 12:15 on the Gazebo stage as well so I guess I'll have to run back and forth between the two stages. I hate that.
A.J. and the Two Tone Band, a favorite, will be there as well as David Egan, a Shreveport legend; I started following David Egan some thirty years ago at the Louisiana Hayride.
Besides the great music there will be great food so bring some cash. Herby K's will be there with gumbo, the Burning Spear Cafe will be back with their jerk chicken and other vendors will be selling boudin balls, hamburgers, beignets, funnel cakes, and other goodies.
The craft vendors will be out as well; I love Aiden's granola. Specialized jewelry vendors, watercolor artists, book sellers jams and jellies, and facepainting booths will be set up. And there will be beer.
For a complete list of food, music and crafts, go here.
Highland Jazz & Blues Festival is also on Facebook.
The weather forecast right now looks like a perfect 70 degrees and sunny! This is a fun, kid-friendly, pet-friendly great way to spend Saturday afternoon in Shreveport. Bring a lawn chair, a blanket, your dog, your kids, your camera, and get on out there!

Why doesn't someone insist that David Egan and Buddy go join Bruce and the Bluebirds and let us hear a few old A Train songs. Robin is no Miki Huneycutt but I am sure she could talk her way thru it.
