Debbie Disses Marco

In typical liberal fashion, Debbie Wasserman Schultz flings mud against the wall to see if it sticks.  In an interview which aired yesterday the DNC chair said:

“Marco Rubio, in the polling that I’ve seen recently, doesn’t really make much difference and, in fact, in some cases actually hurts Mitt Romney or does very little,” she said. “Marco Rubio is a nice guy, but not someone who I think belongs on a national ticket for a lot of reasons.”

She, of course, fails to elaborate on any of those reasons or provide any polling information to substantiate her claim.

In fact, according to this article from the Tampa Bay Times, Romney is leading Obama in Florida and Rubio actually helps:

Mitt Romney has crept to a 6 percentage point lead over President Barack Obama in Florida, where a new poll shows a majority of registered voters don't think the incumbent deserves a second term.
Romney's 47 percent to 41 percent lead over Obama would grow even bigger — to an 8 percentage point advantage — if the challenger chose Sen. Marco Rubio a running mate, according to Quinnipiac University's new survey.
Maybe Wasserman Schultz is referring to this poll which says Jeb Bush would be a better pick.

But polling aside, what are these "reasons" that the DNC chair suggests would keep Rubio off the national ticket?  He's "not someone who I think belongs on a national ticket for a lot of reasons."  That sounds sinister, doesn't it?

Usually when people make insinuations like that with no evidence, there isn't any.  I suspect that is the case here.

Speak up Debbie.  If you know something that should keep Mr. Rubio off a national ticket, share it with us.  It couldn't be his lack of experience on the national stage, could it?  Because pretty much everybody had more experience than Obama in 2008.

If DWS knows something relevant she should reveal what she knows.  Insinuations without evidence are meaningless.

Another Virtual High Five for Allen West

Oh Allen West!  What a card!

Representative West has set the internet all aflame with his email smack down of DNC chair and fellow Representative Debbie Wasserman Scultz.  Rep. West took exception to comments by DWS on the House floor yesterday and I've just got to print that email in its entirety even though it's already everywhere:

From: Z112 West, Allen
Sent: Tuesday, July 19, 2011 04:48 PM
To: Wasserman Schultz, Debbie
Cc: McCarthy, Kevin; Blyth, Jonathan; Pelosi, Nancy; Cantor, Eric
Subject: Unprofessional and Inappropriate Sophomoric Behavior from Wasserman-Schultz

Look, Debbie, I understand that after I departed the House floor you directed your floor speech comments directly towards me. Let me make myself perfectly clear, you want a personal fight, I am happy to oblige. You are the most vile, unprofessional ,and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up. Focus on your own congressional district!

I am bringing your actions today to our Majority Leader and Majority Whip and from this time forward, understand that I shall defend myself forthright against your heinous characterless behavior……which dates back to the disgusting protest you ordered at my campaign hqs, October 2010 in Deerfield Beach.

You have proven repeatedly that you are not a Lady, therefore, shall not be afforded due respect from me!

Steadfast and Loyal

Congressman Allen B West (R-FL)
Reaction to Rep. West's letter is as you would expect.  The left is not pleased and the right is offering virtual high-fives.

The best response comes from Doug Ross who says:

Hey, idiot: it's not "big oil and millionaires" that destroyed Medicare: it's you. You're an embarrassment, Debbie. And I can't wait until Allen West is House Speaker; I hope he puts your office in the basement with [Milton] and his red stapler.

Office Space!  Hilarious!

Debbie Wasserman Scultz might have overlooked the fact that she's dealing with a combat veteran and would do well to remember that Allen West knows how to deal with the likes of her.

Oh, I know about West's interrogation style in Iraq but I'm glad he's got the cojones to call it like it is.  If she's going to violate the decorum of the House floor and speak ill of a member not present then West is correct in correcting her.

Does it "lower the discourse"?  Maybe, but hey.  After listening to the left, and to Obama, the discourse be damned.  The left offers some of the lowest discourse there is.

Consider this my own virtual high five to Allen West!

Wreckovery Summer

Despite what Debbie Wasserman Schultz would have you believe, the economy has not been turned around.  Ed Morrissey at Hot Air boils down some numbers:

Retail sales are down.

Auto sales are down.

Inventories are up.

Even more, the unemployment rate is at 9.1%.

The number of Americans on food stamps continues to climb.

From The Foundry, consider this:

Case in point: On Sunday’s “Meet the Press,” host David Gregory confronted DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz with the cold hard facts—unemployment is up 25 percent since President Obama’s inauguration day, the debt is up 35 percent, a gallon of gas is up 104 percent, and 59 percent of Americans disapprove of the President’s handling of the economy.
All this and Obamacare hasn't even kicking in full bore yet.   And don't forget those energy bills that are expected to skyrocket.  Which means food costs will skyrocket as well.

And what is the Democrats plan for the economy

A third problem stems from the administration's lack of an explicit plan to deal with future budget deficits and with the exploding national debt. This creates uncertainty about future tax increases and interest rates that impedes spending by households and investment by businesses.

Oh wait.  There's a commission being formed to study waste.  Wonderful.  That should do it.

All this bodes poorly for Obama's re-election. As it turns out, that's just fine with his family.

Someone please tell me what kind of la-la land does Debbie Wasserman Schultz live in?  Turned the economy around?  God help us.
