It is unbelievable that the Corps of Engineers has not responded to Jindal's permit request. What do you want to bet the Army has been told to wait for Napolitano and the "White House Advisors" to make the call? The Administration seems not to understand that authority can be delegated but responsibility cannot.

I'm reminded of the citizen flotillas being turned away from New Orleans and rescue aid being refused. It's just insanity. If we are not free to help ourselves and to help our neighbors we have no freedom at all.

This is why we have Governors. Bobby Jindal is doing the right thing by taking charge and protecting Louisiana. That is what leadership is: stepping into a vacuum and getting the job done. He is entirely within both his authority and his inherent responsibility for the well being of Louisiana and its future.
