The Week Ahead = Heatstroke UPDATED

Seriously?  This is not even "heat index" crap, people.  Ugh.

Must be August in Shreveport.  Time to go back to school (in one week.)

How's the temperature where YOU are?

Update:  Daughter in Texas emails to report that their forcast kicks our forcast's ass:

I feel cooler already!

If I had to go back to school in this mess (especially as a student where you have no control), I'd die.

We shall overcome.

When Beth and I were riding through Maryland a little over a week ago it was 105 in Baltimore....and that wan't heat index.

She almost fainted and we had to stop to get her hydrated.

We expected to get out of triple digit temps on the east coast.

Pat, you gotta get ALGORE up there to discuss global warming/climate change or whatever the hell it's called this week..that will guarantee snow.

I apologize for even mentioning this:
10 Day Monterey Bay Forecast

It's all mixed up but I think the gist of the bad news shows through. I know, I know. Somebody has to suffer. But we make up for it by having fools and thieves for legislators.

Used to live on Normandie Drive between the DMV and the old IBM plant. Don't any more and glad of that. In Geneva, NY in the Finger Lakes region now. We had 4 days in the lower 90's and the people here acted like the Gates of Hell had swallowed them. Right now, 10 am, it's 82. That's warm for here.

This is a funny place. It doesn't get that cold in the winter, not like surrounding areas, and likewise for the heat in the summer.

Now it's about 87 with 60% humidity in NE OH, but it'll be 79 on Wednesday.

Having lived most of my life in Philadelphia (PA), where 90+ degrees with 90+ humidity for most of the summer is common, I can only sympathize.

PS And, yes, we've been know to hit 100 on both temp and humidity. In 1980, we had it for 6 weeks.

edutcher...1980 was the Summer from hell!!!

1980 is when we broke the consecutive 100+ record here in NW Louisiana. I remember it well. I think it was about

My wife was pregnant with our first son in the Summer of 1980. She was enormous. And, hot. And enormously, miserably hot.

She could do nothing but lay in the middle of the living room floor nekkid, with the ceiling fan on "high."

He popped out on September 8, and I think it was still about 102.

'80 was a bitch! I'm sure it was even worse for y'all up in PA. I mean, because you live in PA.

Just sayin'...

It is so dry here in Central Texas that you can no longer see where the septic tank or its drain lines are. The grass is dead there too.

I don't know how hot it got today but it's still 102 at 8:30 pm on my shady porch. Forecast for the rest of the week is 107, 107, 107, 106...

We're only in stage one rationing though, as our little town fills the water tower from wells.
