Rove, Jacobson and Nancy

Karl Rove and Professor Jacobson appear to be on the same wavelength.

Rove writes, "It is clear that after the 9/11 attacks Mrs. Pelosi was briefed on enhanced interrogation techniques and the valuable information they produced. She not only agreed with what was being done, she apparently pressed the CIA to do more.

"But when political winds shifted, Mrs. Pelosi seems to have decided to use enhanced interrogation as an issue to attack Republicans. It is disgraceful that Democrats who discovered their outrage years after the fact are now braying for disbarment of the government lawyers who justified EITs and the prosecution of Bush administration officials who authorized them. Mrs. Pelosi is hip-deep in dangerous waters, and they are rapidly rising."

and Jacobson: "What will Democrats do if they find that other Democrats were morally if not legally culpable in waterboarding? Do the Democrats have an exit strategy?

"Here's my prediction of what will happen if Democrats push the investigation to the bitter end causing damage to national security, a political death match with the CIA, and Democrat-on-Democrat finger pointing:

Stenny Hoyer, Speaker; Jane Harman, Majority Leader; Nancy Pelosi, Chair of the House sub-committee on fresh water fisheries; Republicans, unexpected gains in 2010 mid-term elections.
"The Democrats wished hard for an investigation into waterboarding and other interrogation methods. They may have wished too hard, because they are about to get what they wished for, with no way out."

It seems Nancy Pelosi is in a mess! Be sure to read Jacobson's entire post - he's brilliant.

Pelosi just had a press conference in which she accused the CIA (and Bush) of lying. It was pretty funny. I'm reminded of Marion Barry when he got busted as mayor.

Jacobson has a post on it and a link to a politico account. I'm sure there's transcripts of the press conference somewhere.

Remember, never allow children to play with fireworks, and if you do, make sure they are under adult supervision at all times.

"Let me be clear: It is not our policy or practice to mislead Congress. That is against our laws and our values. As the Agency indicated previously in response to Congressional inquiries, our contemporaneous records from September 2002 indicate that CIA officers briefed truthfully on the interrogation of Abu Zubaydah, describing ‘the enhanced techniques that had been employed.’ Ultimately, it is up to Congress to evaluate all the evidence and reach its own conclusions about what happened." - Former Clinton Sidekick, and current CIA Director, Leon Panetta.

All I can say is "WOW!"

Leon "Pinheada" Panetta did such a great job doing tapdances, when he worked for Clinton, he ranked right up there with Mr Bojangles. And for him turn on a Democrat, any Democrat, and especially "Nasty" Pelosi, there has to be a turd floating in the punchbowl.
