Andy McCarthy at NRO's The Corner quotes a letter from Rep. Frank Wolfe (R.-Va.) to Attorney General Holder regarding the Uighurs and their imminent release into the United States:
"I have grave concerns that you are playing fast and loose with the definition of “terrorist” and may be misleading the American people regarding its plans to release the Uyghur detainees into the U.S. Let me be very clear – the Uyghurs held at Guantanamo Bay are trained terrorists and members or associates of the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM), a designated terrorist group affiliated with al Qaeda, as designated by both the U.S. government and the United Nations (U.N.). Whether their intended victims were Chinese or Americans, a trained terrorist is a terrorist."
Here's my virtual high-five to Rep. Wolfe!

None of that has been proven. Common knowlede ia that they were traded for cash --- you know -- all that printed up money that was spread around of budget for years.
@ michilines
"Common knowledge?!" LOL! Where is your source, please?
"all that printed up money that was spread around of budget for years."
Are you talking about the Obama Admin. printing up all that money recently? Probably not. So what's your source, the movie "The Mighty Quinn"?
I repeat: Are you for real?
I hesitate to feed the trolls here, but the Uighurs admitted to their training. Their claim was that they had no grievance with the U.S., they only wanted to terrorize their own country.
Let's move them in next to you, michilines, and you can see how they do. I suspect y'all might get along nicely.
Yep, yukio, common knowledge.
Follow the links at my other comment.
You last jumped on the bandwagon of a lie, are you going to jump on this one too?
The Uighurs have already been identified by the Bush administration as noncombatants.
In other words, they have been deemed by the Bush administration as not being terrorists. The reason they can't go back to China is that they will be executed, like others were.
If you are ok with people being executed because we picked them up, fine then.
This isn't a new issue.

I would welcome the Uighurs to this country and help them any way I could.
The Bush administration took years from their lives. They have children they have never seen. At least the Bush administration saved them from being executed like the others who were captured at the same time and turned over to the Chinese.
If you and G.R. and Yukio feel that it's ok to sentence people who just wanted to make a living to death, that's on your heads, not mine.
"Got a link for that Pat? something that goes to a government document?"
It's from a book. Maybe you've heard of them? Pages? Ink?
Go to your library and check out Inside Gitmo.
The Bush administration's decision to brand as terrorist an obscure Muslim group with roots in western China has been greeted with skepticism by many Western diplomats and scholars. They say the Americans have offered little hard evidence for applying the label, and seem more concerned with softening Chinese opposition to a possible attack on Iraq than with the potential threat posed by the group.Sort of like using torture to justify invading Iraq.
Over the years, I have had students from Iaq and other countries in that region. Pat, what you and your commenters don't realise is that I'm not just some wanker in Houston spouting off.
I know what I am talking about when it comes to international relations.
In other words, Pat, get your facts correct on iternational topics. I have a daily fact checker. ;)
A link from a book would be easily given if you went to you local libary and logged onto L/N.
Or if you had access.
Lots of wingnuts publish books, see A. Coulter's Treason as an example.
Do you have a dot gov source?
Moonbats publish book, too. Audacity of Hope, Dreams of My Father....
