Ed Morrissey ought to have too many things to choose from this week for his Obamateurism of the Day award. And it's only Tuesday.This from the New York Post:
The $328,835 snapshots of an Air Force One backup plane buzzing lower Manhattan last week will not be shown to the public, the White Housesaid yesterday.
"We have no plans to release them," an aide to President Obama told The Post, refusing to comment further.
The sole purpose of the secret photo-op, which sent thousands of New Yorkers running for cover, was to take new publicity shots of the presidential jet over the city.
"The photos . . . are classified -- that's ridiculous," Councilman Peter Vallone Jr., said.
The photos have not technically been "classified," a White House aide said, but they are being kept from public view.
Excuse me? We have no problem releasing photos of prisoner abuse (there are hundreds about to come out - a move certain to jeopardize national security) and we don't have a problem releasing CIA memos, either. But a picture of Scare Force One? Can't do that. Sorry. Top Secret.
And never mind that there are plenty of civilian photos and video of the incident online. What could possibly be classified about these shots? If the White House is trying to keep from further embarrassment of the issue then they made a wrong turn on this one.
Maybe they should have a few more "Cinco de Cuatro" margaritas and rethink this one.

WHAT? The photographs of the presidential plane (it can't be called Air Force one, because Obama wasn't on board at the time) flying over New York is classified, but the techniques on how the intelligence community gets information isn't?
It sounds like too many "Cinco de Cuatro" margaritas, along with other mind altering substances, have already been consumed.
